Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

From the Great Divide Brewing Co in Denver, this is a rich and flavorful stout worth savoring.  Their motto is "Great minds drink alike."  I'll raise a glass to that.

Long Trail Imperial Porter

From the Brewmaster Series of the Long Trail brewery in Vermont, this Porter has a fairly thin taste.  No aftertaste but no intense flavor either. A little boring ...

Guinness Foreign Stout

My brother said "your world will change when you try this beer." OK he's a bit dramatic.  But 'regular' Guinness will never taste the same.

Hoppin' Frog Oatmeal-Imperial Stout

First sip was thick and creamy.  Second was a near perfect stout...Hoppin Frog B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher is excellent

BBC Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout

From the Bluegrass Brewing Company, a fairly good stout.

Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale

From the Black Sheep Brewery in Yorkshire UK.  They claim on the label that the ale has been tempered over burning witches...but it didn't have a negative impact on the flavor...which was OK.

Sam Adams Utopias

This was from the 2005 batch of Sam Adams Utopias.  Only 8,000 bottles were brewed using oak casks from the Buffalo Trace Distillery.  The result?  A unique beer meant to be served in two ounce servings (best in a brandy snifter) at room temperature.  A great after dinner drink...and at 25% alcohol by volume a strong one at that.

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

Another damn good Imperial Stout...nearly as good as Stone

Imperial Stout Trooper

From the New England Brewing Company, this stout is worthy of the Dark Side...grab one if you can find it.

Narragansett

I drank this one for nostalgia. The original Narragansett beer was around when I was a kid (and brewed in RI)...now that my trip down memory lane is over, I won't be buying this beer any time soon.

SBC Brewery Black Rock Stout

Great microbrew!  Worth the trip to Branford.

Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA

A pretty good IPA.  Nothing overly special, but not bad either.

Heavy Seas Loose Cannon

An IPA that is hopped 3 times.  A bit more of a robust flavor than a typical IPA...and slightly higher alcohol content.

Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter

Otter Creek has some pretty decent beers, and this is one of them.  Good flavor and little aftertaste.

Guinness Black Lager

I could probably live on Guinness Stout alone.  So when this came out I had to try it.  The first taste was alright ...but with each sip it got better.   Not their stout...but very nice for a lager.

SWT

Sam Adams Longshot Honey B's Lavender Ale

From the Sam Adams American Homebrew Contest series of beers.  Brewed with lavender petals and honey this was a very good pale ale.

Samuel Adams Octoberfest

A classic Octoberfest brew

SWT

Newport Storm Hurricane Amber Ale

I actually don't remember anything in particular about this beer...guess that says it all.

SWT

Flying Dog Pale Ale

Another ok beer from Flying Dog Brewery.

SWT

Flying Dog Tire Bite

A golden ale that was forgettable

SWT

Flying Dog Road Dog

Sometimes you buy the beers just because the bottles look cool.  Flying Dog beers are that variety.   Ok beers but great looking bottles.

Gritty's Black Fly Stout

Now I love stouts...given a preference I'd order a stout over anything else.  And I love to try new ones, so when this was given to me I was eager to open it.  As stouts go it was average.  I'd order it again...but only if it were the only stout available.

SWT

Brooklyn Black Ops

A stout aged in bourbon barrels, bottled flat and refermented with Champagne yeast.  Supposedly only 1000 cases were brewed.  If that is true that is a shame because this was an excellent find.

SWT

Stone Imperial Russian Stout

This is it...the imperial stout that all others are measured against.  I've yet to have another imperial stout that is better than this.  And if I ever do you'll be the first to know.

SWT

Stone Belgo Anise Imperial Russian Stout

My brother introduced me to the Stone Imperial Stouts (thanks bro!).  The Belgo Anise is worth every penny.  Brewed with anise, oak chips and Belgian yeast, the flavor is AMAZING.  The beer is smooth and has a kick (10.5% alcohol/volume)...so be prepared to sit back and enjoy.

SWT

Wailua

From the Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii.  This is a wheat ale brewed with passion fruit.  A terrific summer ale that is refreshing and quite tasty.

SWT

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

I've had some pumpkin flavored beers that were intensely flavored.  You could taste the pumpkin initially in this one but it wasn't overpowering and didn't leave a pumpkin aftertaste.

SWT

Stranger

Another pale ale...wish I could remember this one but it was well into the tailgate at the Further show at Red Rocks.

SWT

Mojo

As far as a pale ale goes this wasn't bad.  Nice beer on a hot day.

SWT

Mercenary

A pretty good beer...not heavy at all and decent flavor.

SWT

FAT TIRE

A staple in Denver.  OK as a breakfast beer on the golf course.
